Meet Lisa
Aiken, fashion director of
Moda Operandi and one of our personal style icons here at Who
What Wear. Lisa is championed within the industry for setting
trends and spotting new designers like it’s no one’s business. No,
really—if there’s a cool new brand or rising trend, she’s not
only already wearing it but has also edited it into Moda Operandi’s
shopping selection for all to enjoy. Since we’re always looking to
Lisa for our next shopping move, we’re thrilled she’s agreed to
join us as a columnist on the site, serving the latest and greatest
when it comes to trends, style, and shopping. Today, it is with
great honor and excitement that we welcome her as she discusses all
the pretty spring 2020 trends she spotted during New York Fashion
Week.
Fashion month may have just started, but there are trends
already starting to emerge from New York. Here are the four to turn
to (right now) and the pieces we recommend investing in to get
ahead of the curve.
From
daring sweetheart shapes to skin-baring off-the-shoulder, romantic
necklines are having a moment. This feminine trend is so much
cooler toned down on the bottom—try with baggy trousers or
sneakers for the right balance.

We’ve
been seeing sheer fabrications with a sheer overlay across multiple
silhouettes and styles. From dresses and tops to layering pieces,
this is an eveningwear trend that could have daytime
potential.

In
terms of color for the season, there has been a sea of tropical
Skittles tones. From electric blue to lime green and shocking pink,
the younger designers, especially, have had fun with their color
palette this season.

Skin
is still definitely in. While there has been a wave of the
naked-back trend going, cutouts are now finding themselves all over
dress silhouettes from the waist to the hip to the chest.

Next
up, check out the latest street style looks spotted all over London
Fashion Week.
