The arrival of social distancing has wrought an sudden change in the land of Instagram. Only six months ago, the platform was a conveyor belt of stripped-back ensembles, all in 50 shades of beige—give or take the odd pop of color by way of an artfully placed citrus fruit. But now it seems as though style lovers are on the lookout for slightly extra dopamine of their dressing. Enter Scandi women.
Whereas within the first few weeks of lockdown, loungewear was the name of the game, it seems as if the novelty of all things knitted has lastly worn off. Escapism now comes in the type of colour, texture, clashing prints and, crucial accent of all, a megawatt smile. The Scandi women have all of it. Don’t get me mistaken. I am a daily worshipper at the altar of minimalism, and you’re a lot likelier to see me in a white tee and black trousers than a floor-length floral robe. But there’s something about the austere aesthetic that’s simply not making my coronary heart sing right now.
No, I won’t be replicating their outfits to a T (or perhaps give it a number of weeks), but when trend cannot act as our bizarre, fantastic and aspirational older sister, then what can? I am simply going take pleasure in soaking in all of the eclectic goodness of the fashionable lot under, and who is aware of, perhaps I am going to start absorbing some of their vibrant coolness by way of osmosis. A woman can dream.
Fashion Notes: There’s nothing that brings me extra joy than a tasseled jacket.
Type Notes: I imply, it isn’t probably the most practical outfit on the earth, but boy is it enjoyable.
