London
Fashion Week just wrapped and that can only mean one
thing—Milan and all its Italian designer glory is here in full
swing. Per usual, Milan really brought the drama and elegance as
major fashion houses like Gucci, Prada, and Versace ensured their
collections were filled with not only industry-leading collections
but also memorable moments for onlookers.
To ensure you’re kept up to speed on the latest S/S 20 runways,
we are here to fill you in on the best looks so far from Milan
Fashion Week. Since keeping fully up-to-date with the slew of shows
that happen each day, we made it easy to digest for you by
highlighting the major moments for you below. Trust us, there are
some iconic moments that can’t be missed—including Jennifer Lopez
in that dress. Yes, it’s the one you think it is.
One
thing we can always count on from a Prada collection, no matter
what the season, is it being inherently “Prada”, and that feeling
of home is exactly what we felt within the S/S 20 collection.
Expected detailing such as geometric shapes and bold color
contrasts were very present as were some surprises like
the oversized jewelry.
This
show was a major moment for Milan Fashion Week as multiple
stampedes of models if you will, walked down the runway in mini
herds wearing everything from coordinating gray suits to pastel
silky gowns. This collection, as many so far this season have been,
was extremely wearable. No fussiness or frills, just well-tailored
and easily approachable pieces for the chic woman.
Fendi
was a true blast from the past and just the breath of fresh air we
needed from Milan at this point in the game. There were many
innovative nods to the ’70s and as more and more looks came down
the runway including checkered coats, floral hot pants, oversize
sunnies, we were reminded that this is a new era for Fendi without
Karl Lagerfeld. And so far, Silvia Venturini Fendi is doing just
fine.
Versace,
Versace, Versace—where to start! This collection was quite a ride
starting with a slew of ’80s-esque power dressing featuring power
shoulders, stiff collars, cinched waists and more, and ending
with…
…Jennifer
Lopez. Closing out the Versace S/S 20 show was none other than J.Lo
herself as she paraded down the runway wearing that dress (slightly
reimagined, of course). Talk about a fashion moment that will go
down in history.
Salvatore
Ferragamo surprised us a tad with many nods to California-inspired
dressing featuring crocheted dresses and separates, beachy prints,
and some corresponding swimwear looks to match. The color palettes
shifted a bit as the show went on starting with softer hues,
progessing into prints and bold brights, and ending in rich
neutrals.
Giorgio
Armani’s S/S 20 collection was one of those collections that
reveals more and more to you each time you go back to look at it.
What started as a bit of dark suiting ended with a dozen pastel and
organza looks. See? This is one you’ll need to see to
believe.
Not
to play favorites, but this might just be one of our favorite Gucci
collections yet. The show opened with 21 models wearing some
version of a straight jacket as they emerged down the runway which
was a moving walkway much like that of the ones you see in the
airport. As far as the *real* collection goes, we saw subdued
prints (for Alessandro, that is), inventive color combinations, and
silhouettes like we haven’t seen in a long time. Each look was
more eye-opening than the next and we can’t wait to see how this
S/S 20 collection comes to life on the streets come spring. Next
up, as we head to Paris Fashion Week, check out the best looks so
far from the front rows.
